Sabaii Bay Resort

The hotel is nicely designed and has potential, but the service and staff attitude really affected our stay. Room cleaning happened only when we asked, though at a resort of this level I expected it to be automatic. We were also charged extra to borrow towels, and our room came with one large towel but no smaller ones. Staff weren't helpful or accommodating. We travelled extensively around Thailand, and this was the least friendly, least supportive place we encountered, which was disappointing given the usual hospitality. The sea in this area also wasn't especially impressive compared with other places.

I don't usually leave bad reviews. The hotel has a really nice pool, a fully equipped gym, and a good spot on one of the main roads. But our “AC bungalow” was humid and not properly clean, with spider webs and lots of ants. The bathroom was a wet room, and most of its walls had mold. It just didn't feel clean, and I wouldn't stay in that room again. The other rooms looked ten times nicer, so I think they may have neglected the old bungalows.

The setting is nice, but service here isn't something I'd recommend. They only help when you ask. We sent our laundry in because the information sheet in our cabin listed the price as 50 baht per kg. At checkout, they smiled and said the rate had gone up to 80 baht per kg. I pointed out the sheet and explained that we'd chosen the service because the price seemed reasonable, but there was no room to discuss it and we had to pay the full amount. It's not really about the money. I care about honesty and clear pricing.

Construction started right behind our bungalow at 6-7 a.m., and the owner was rude. The place hardly felt like a hotel: our bungalow was neglected, doors were broken, towels and bed linen were missing, and insects were inside. The beach had bottles and broken glass, while the pool needed cleaning. Cats wander around freely and come into the rooms, so anyone with allergies should be careful.
