Salad Buri Resort - Haad Salad

The beach was lovely for the kids, and we ate there with plenty of options. There's also a small market nearby. We stayed five nights and got a free upgrade, which we appreciated. The resort is older and could use some maintenance, but I was happy with it for the price. We had a good time.

After about an hour, we had to leave because the room was affecting our health. My partner has asthma and developed severe coughing and shortness of breath. I was coughing heavily too, with a burning throat and chest, headaches, and burning, watery eyes. Even hours later, we were still coughing. For anyone with breathing problems, I believe this place could be seriously dangerous. We checked out immediately. The room itself was filthy and unhygienic. There was heavy mold on the bedroom and bathroom walls, webs and spiders everywhere, and unidentified stains on the textiles. The bed linen was yellowish, musty-smelling, and didn't seem freshly cleaned. A sharp, stinging odor was being covered with so much room fragrance that the air smelled sweet and chemical, making it worse. The shower seals were old, yellowed and damaged, and the toilet was heavily soiled and clearly hadn't been cleaned properly. The room looked nothing like the booking platform photos and descriptions. When we raised the issue with the hotel manager, there was no empathy, understanding or sense of responsibility. That response sadly fits with many negative reviews already posted online. We were offered another room, but refused because after this experience we had no trust that another room here or at an associated property would be any better. This was one of the worst accommodation experiences we've had. From our perspective, the resort is uninhabitable and shouldn't be listed on booking platforms. If hygiene, health and responsible treatment of guests matter to you, stay away. Save yourself the stress, disappointment and possible health problems by booking somewhere else.

The rooms might be okay, but they badly need maintenance. There's no service or breakfast, and transport is overpriced even though you'll need it. Worst hotel in Thailand I've seen since I fell off my dinosaur.

I loved my stay here. The restaurant food was great, the staff were polite and helpful, scooter rental was tip-top, and the laundry was handled perfectly. Thank you, guys 🙏😁
