On the walk through to the beach, the first thing we saw was a monkey kept in a cage above the walkway that was much too small. From earlier reviews, it seems to have been there since it was a baby. If they’re going to keep it, it should at least have more space. I can’t recommend this place to anyone who cares about animals.
There’s a lovely view and setting, like at many of the island’s beaches. The food was only passable, and the owners could use a crash course in customer relations. A smile, a welcome and basic good manners would be enough. There was also a baby dusky leaf monkey wandering around as some kind of pet.
I booked a week and I’m now on night five. No one has cleaned the bungalow, changed the towels or sheets, or refilled the toilet paper. There’s no soap either. I asked several times and was told to buy it myself at the store. Poor service and quality for the price.
The garden is wonderful and the owner is nice, but the place feels too crowded. The rooms are very basic and musty, and it gets noisy in the evenings and during the day as well. The one amazing thing was the sunset :)
The bungalows sit right on the beach, with spacious rooms, a basic kitchen sink, clean bathrooms and a pleasant terrace with a hammock. There’s a restaurant on the beach and another bar next door. Zen beach has white sand and beautiful scenery. It gets pretty busy at sunset, with people out enjoying the moment. You can also walk to the next beach, which is amazing too, with a massage place, coffee and a bar.
