Rainbow Sky Hotel Samet

I can’t comment on the hotel since I didn’t stay there, but I did eat at the restaurant. It was the worst breakfast I’ve had in Thailand. The tuna sandwich was just like one from the nearby 7-Eleven, only three times the price. The other meal was an omelet with sausages and toast, plus coffee with milk. The sausages were poor quality, the eggs had a cheap margarine aftertaste, and the coffee was instant with sugar even though we’d asked for it without. They served powdered milk instead of regular milk, too. I’d avoid eating there. The food was a huge mistake.

The staff are lovely and always willing to help, and the manager speaks English very well and is available around the clock. You can walk to a 7-11 and an ATM in about a minute, with Bangkok Bank among the options, and SaiKaew Beach is roughly ten minutes away on foot. There’s also a swimming pool and a karaoke club that operates as a nightclub for locals. Definitely recommend.

We never stayed at the hotel, but the restaurant served the worst breakfast we’ve had. The food didn’t look like the menu pictures. The scrambled eggs were strangely orange and tasted like cheese powder, while the sausages and ham didn’t taste like they should. The salad was basically onion covered in mayonnaise. We also got orange juice that was saltier than the sea, and liquid orange pancakes that were half the size shown on the menu. They got our order wrong twice, too. It was way overpriced for what we got.

It’s only a few minutes’ walk from the hotel to Koh Samet pier, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Renting a motorbike to explore the island is easy. Mr. Jack at the main desk gave me good customer service, and all the staff were friendly, kind, and helpful. They found solutions to every request. Good place and value for money, highly recommended.
