Samed Hideaway Resort

I paid extra for a double room with one double bed, but was given a twin room with the beds pushed together. There was a gap between the mattresses, and it gave me back pain. That arrangement wasn’t acceptable. At check-in, other guests were offered fruit and welcome drinks, while I received no proper welcome. Then, despite breakfast being included in my booking, the restaurant staff said my room didn’t include it when I gave them my room number, and wouldn’t let us continue eating. The hotel needs to check bookings more carefully and train its staff better.

The staff were really friendly and clearly trying their best, though communicating in English could be tricky at times. A translator app may come in handy. Breakfast was basic enough that I went elsewhere on the second day, and the rooms and property felt dated and ready for some updates. I paid what felt like too much, maybe because I stayed Saturday to Monday. At about half the price, I think I’d have come away with a better impression and rating.

We thought the hotel photos gave a somewhat misleading impression. The rooms are nice and the food is okay, but rubbish and rubble wash up on the beach, so you can’t swim or eat there. That’s why we gave the location just one star and the hotel two stars overall.

The rooms are clean, the staff are lovely, and the pool area is beautifully green and lush. Hideaway could be an amazing little resort with a bit of care, but our meal was disappointing. I ordered vegetable pineapple rice without shrimp, yet it arrived with shrimp mixed in. I couldn’t eat it, and although the manager apologized when I explained, they wouldn’t replace it and still charged us for the untouched meal. On our last morning, we saw a turtle in a tiny pond with only about an inch of filthy water. It was awful to see, and that’s sadly what I’ll remember most. Please release the poor turtle.
