After nearly 12 hours driving from Phuket, my wife and I arrived exhausted with our three dogs, only to be told the inn wouldn’t accept big dogs. Before the trip, my wife had called reception to check, and the person on the phone said the dogs were fine. They’re two husky puppies and a chow chow, all medium-sized breeds, and one husky is only five months old and not fully grown. The receptionist said rudely that the website clearly states big dogs aren’t accepted, but I couldn’t find that policy anywhere. If certain breeds or sizes aren’t allowed, why wasn’t that explained when we called, instead of being given conflicting information? We couldn’t find another pet-friendly hotel and were worn out from the drive. We were fortunate not to have booked ahead, or we might have lost our money too. If you advertise as pet-friendly, be clear about the rules before saying yes. If you have dogs, you may be disappointed, since it’s unclear whether reception will accept yours.
