Sinsamut Koh Samed Hotel

The location is the best, seriously. You step straight onto the beach and right into the one and only walkingstreet on Koh Samed. I didn’t find the staff special: during my 10-day stay I got one “good morning,” and there were six people sitting around the restaurant area without anyone offering help. It wasn’t fresh or good in any way, but the price is fine if you don’t plan to spend much time at the hotel.

We were only there for a couple of nights, which was fine, but I missed having a window. The room felt a bit like a cave without one. The location was perfect, right by the beach and surrounded by bars and restaurants, so it works if you don’t spend much time in your room. I just prefer a window.

I’m on my second night here and just finished a boat tour they arranged. When I returned, my room was very clean, which impressed me, but then I spotted 500฿ on the bed. I was puzzled and checked my money. Sure enough, I was missing 500฿. I’d dropped it in the room that morning, and someone had left it there for me. I went straight to reception to thank them. I feel like my things are looked after while I’m out doing activities, and I feel looked after in the restaurant too. It’s an amazing place to stay, right on the beachfront, with a restaurant and boat tours.

Everything was great. The AC smelled bad for about a day, then it was fine. In high season the beach chairs are packed close together. Neither issue is a big deal or worth taking off a star, but I wanted to mention them. Recommended.
