Stellars Samed Resort

We hired a reasonably priced scooter from the hotel and rode all over the island. The location itself is peaceful, with eateries, bars and the beachfront no more than a 10-minute walk away. There are two pools, and one day we had one all to ourselves. The reception guy was friendly and helpful, nothing seemed too much trouble. Our room was in a block, but it was massive, with a huge bed and a balcony. Really liked this place, highly recommend it.

The breakfast buffet was delicious and had so many choices. Service was great too, with really helpful staff. They arranged a scooter for us and everything went smoothly. The resort is near the pier and can also help book a speedboat to the pier. I had a great stay.

The rooms were dark and unclean, and the sheets were poor quality, wrinkled and visibly torn on both my bed and my friend’s. Amenities were sparse too. If you wanted tea or coffee, you had to get it from reception rather than having it in the room. The pools were worrying. One was green while we were there. The other looked blue, but I chose to avoid it as a precaution. The wooden decking by the pool creaked noticeably underfoot, making it feel like the property needed a lot of maintenance. Breakfast was very poor. I ate nothing, and my travel companion took a few bites before leaving their plate. At reception, plates of leftover lunch were sitting behind the counter, and the light fixtures nearby were visibly dusty and dirty. It wasn’t a welcoming start and didn’t feel like what I expected from a resort. We booked at the last minute because there wasn’t much else available on the island. After three nights in January 2026, I wouldn’t stay again.

I had a lovely week here, so I’m not sure why people complain. It’s a cute little hotel, the room was spacious and the AC worked fine. Breakfast was enough, with a mix of Western and Thai food. Staff tried hard to help, especially the new front desk agent, I think his name was Koze, though I’ve forgotten for sure. It’s a six-minute walk to the beach.
