Suncloud Hotel Koh Samet

The AC in my room was really noisy and disturbed my sleep. Water pressure was too weak as well, so showering took longer.

The hotel is new, and people at the pier didn’t know where it was. We struggled to find it while hauling our suitcases, and there was no motorbike or mini truck to take us there. The rooms feel modern and minimalist, but there are no shelves or space for toiletries in the bathroom. They’re still making improvements, so I hope they add that and a blow dryer. I came with my wife and girlfriend, and the booking was for two since we all sleep in the same bed. They asked if we wanted an extra bed, and we said no, we share. Then they charged another 300 baht for a third person. It wasn’t a big deal, but they should provide amenities for the third person they charge for. At checkout they charged 300 baht for towels because our girlfriend had gotten makeup on them. They didn’t use hot water or bleach. I’ve never stayed somewhere that charges for towels unless you take them. They should learn how to launder things. Shame on them. We took the towel with us to wash later and show them how it should be done, and will post an update. On the plus side, the place is super clean and modern, the owner was friendly and listened to feedback, and the price is reasonable for a new hotel. The beach is within walking distance.

The hotel is pretty, well located, and has good beds and room design. But the main reason we booked it was to use the bathtub, and that never worked out. We had no hot water on the first day or night. The team had to fix it the next day, and since it would take over an hour, the four of us had to leave the room and shower somewhere else. Once it was fixed, we tried to fill the tub, but the water pressure was too low and it would have taken more than an hour. We boiled four kettles of water instead. The water looked yellow, as if the tanks might be collecting rust, and then it stopped flowing, so we couldn’t fill the tub anyway. We never got to enjoy a bath. It’s a shame the hotel seems to prioritize looks over function. Before writing this, we contacted the owner directly but got no reply.

Our toilet smelled awful, and the hotel is far from Sai Kaew Beach. We were also fined for checking out 18 minutes late, so be aware the rules here are very strict.
