Everything was disappointing from the moment I arrived. There was no staff at first, and after someone called for them, we had to wait for them to come out. A booking mistake on their part meant we couldn’t check in on time. They tried to put four of us in a different, cheaper room with only one bed, without considering how we’d sleep. We waited over an hour while they spoke to the guests who were still there and had the room cleaned. It was already 4 pm before we finally got into the room we had booked. I was completely put off doing anything. The staff didn’t resolve the problem, even though it was their mistake, and simply pushed us toward another room. Then the air conditioner was noisy and didn’t cool properly, the water was cloudy and unclean, and rats ran around on the ceiling all night. The TV didn’t work, and there was no running water in the morning.

The entrance was unclear, so getting around was difficult, and there were lots of cockroaches. I spent one night there and found five in the bathroom, which made me very suspicious. There were millipedes in the room too. When I called the staff, they just told me to sweep them up. I was really disappointed. For the same price, I found it poor value compared with other places. The room itself was nice.

Baan Sai Rung is right on the beach, and the accommodation is clean and incredibly beautiful. It has a great atmosphere, too. Booking and paying are both easy. If you’re going to Sai Kaeo Beach, you have to stay here.

The triple room is roomy, with bright floor to ceiling windows on three sides, though there isn’t much privacy. The hot water was hot enough and the air conditioning cooled well. The property is at the far north end of the beach, away from the crowds, but you have to walk a bit to see the fire dance. The Google Maps location is wrong, and I’ve submitted a correction. At night, you can hear a lot of noise from the nightclub next door. I couldn’t find the WiFi account and password the property provided.
