Aloha Resort Samui Island

We spent three nights here and had to switch rooms every day, even though rooms were available. We weren’t offered one with a better view, and when we asked for a double bed, the request was flatly turned down despite availability. At check-in, which was already taking a while, we asked for water and were told it was only provided in the room. The room had handwash but no shampoo, conditioner, body wash, dental kit or iron. We paid 3.5k baht a night for this, and it doesn’t feel worthy of a three-star rating. Even a basic budget hotel includes those essentials. The manager, Mr. Juan, kept saying the resort was full when we asked to stay a third night, although rooms appeared online. We booked the extra night ourselves. On the day of an expensive tour, pickup was scheduled for 7:15-7:30 AM. Breakfast started at 7:00, and I told Mr. Juan we’d be there and asked him to call when the cab arrived. He agreed, but the cab came and left without anyone telling us. When we raised it, he laughed and said it was our fault, that calling wasn’t his job and guests had to wait in the lobby. We nearly missed our paid trip and had to rush to the pier on a scooty, which felt stressful and unsafe. Misleading information, no courtesy or flexibility, and very unprofessional management. Not recommended.

The staff made this stay feel special. They smiled through our requests, took a real interest in helping, and shared great local recommendations. We never felt like just another number. And the setting is stunning from the moment you arrive. Every room looks out over the ocean, with clear turquoise water, white sand and beautiful sunsets each evening. Aloha’s natural surroundings make it feel like you’re right in nature. The scenery and service together made for an unforgettable vacation. We could have stayed forever, and can’t wait to return.

Breakfast was simple, fresh enough and sufficient, though not a big highlight. The omelette chef was the real morning star: always cheerful, friendly and motivated, and his omelettes became a daily treat. Reception staff were just as warm and helpful, always greeting us with a genuine smile. Zora and I came from Germany and had a lovely holiday at Aloha Resort, better than we expected. The resort is over 45 years old, and while some parts have been renovated, others could use updating. A few bathrooms need work, but they’re clean and functional. The age also gives it a bit of authentic character. The gardens are lush and well kept, and the pool area is clean and inviting, like a little oasis. You’re right on Lamai Beach, with lovely ocean views and the warmest water we could imagine. In May 2026 it felt like a bathtub. Even though we travelled during rainy season, we had hardly any rain and got plenty of sunny beach days. Restaurants, massage shops and nightlife are within walking distance, while the resort itself stays peaceful. Motorcycle rates were attractive too. We loved the relaxed Thai atmosphere, the tropical gardens, the pool and the friendly staff. If you’re looking for a brand-new luxury five-star resort, this probably isn’t it. But for authentic charm, a great beachfront location and lovely people, it’s well worth a stay. We’d happily come back.

The front desk offered no real help or sense of responsibility when we raised serious problems, and our payment was withheld without a fair resolution. Our room was dirty and unhygienic, the toilet was broken, and basic maintenance had clearly been neglected, yet we were still charged full price. The way these issues were handled felt misleading and unfair, with payment seeming to matter more than basic hospitality. We’re sharing this so other travellers don’t lose their money, time and holiday here. Strongly not recommended. Never again.
