Absolute Sanctuary

We only had three days, and sessions were booked from an ala carte menu. Some receptionists didn't really know how the treatments worked, and nobody helped us figure out a good combination. They'd already told us there was no doctor, so keep that in mind. I enjoyed meditation and especially reformer pilates. The equipment, teacher and place were all truly great, and people from outside the hotel come for it. One third of the class was men, which was good for my husband to know. We also tried a sound Tibetan bowls ritual for couples, which was interesting. If you're travelling alone and want some ME time, plenty of other guests were by themselves rather than couples, and that was nice. I loved the plants around the pool and the food selection, and breakfast was really good. Just no bread, only healthy banana dry bread, haha.

The no-alcohol and no-smoking policy made for the kind of restful atmosphere we wanted. People read by the pool with fresh coconuts and juices, and there was no drunken noise or loud partying. We didn't join a structured wellness program, just wanted somewhere peaceful to stay active, eat well, and take care of ourselves after a busy year. It was exactly the pre-Christmas break we needed, and we'll definitely be back. We also loved how easy it was to get out and explore. The daily shuttle and organised activities helped us visit nearby Cheong Mon beach and Fisherman's Village without dropping our wellness routine. The rooms had lots of practical touches: outdoor rails to dry clothes, handy shower and bathtub recesses, plenty of storage for suitcases and other things, and lots of powerpoints. The bathroom had a window for natural light and a curtain for privacy. The place was kept exceptionally clean. We saw staff tending to it throughout the day, cleaning lights and surfaces, covering outdoor furniture at night, and keeping even the grout pristine. The staff were warm and professional, remembered our favourite fitness classes and that we're vegan, and responded quickly to requests like bringing up an ironing board or changing pillows. There were complimentary fitness classes every day, with paid sessions such as Reformer Pilates and Yoga available too. The pilates instructor was awesome and really skilled. The gym was spacious and well equipped, with music and all the equipment we wanted. The pool and steam room were beautiful and immaculately maintained. As whole-food plant-based vegans, we were happy with the meals: fresh salads, lots of vegan and vegetarian dishes, and a wide juice selection. I've seen complaints that the food is bland, but it suited us. It's healthy food with few additives, and probably the closest we've come to eating like we do at home. When we wanted something different, we went out, but it was nice to have this place feel like a sanctuary.

I signed up for a 3-day spa program at Absolute Sanctuary, and even after just the first day I'm blown away. As a first-time solo traveler, I felt at home and completely comfortable. The place has a calming atmosphere, smells amazing, and has plenty to do without feeling like too much. They even include trips to nearby night markets. The team are so friendly and flexible. They were happy to adjust my schedule to fit in extra treatments, which made everything feel easy and stress-free. All meals are included, with two dishes to choose for breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus fresh juice each time. I also get two more juices from the Vitamin Bar each day, or can swap them for a protein shake. The vegetarian options are delicious, and everything tastes fresh and nourishing, with no additives. The food, juices and teas are all really good. Can't wait for the rest of my stay!

This was my third visit to Absolute Sanctuary, and it was lovely to see so many familiar, smiling faces again. The atmosphere, people and whole experience make it such a special place to reset and recharge. Kevin is still killin it with the amazing Pilates classes, and Jana is a yoga master who always has great tips to help you reach your full potential. Book extra treatments too, like the sound baths. I already can't wait to return. If, like me, you ask for a stronger massage and still don't get quite enough, Mod is your lady! She has the strongest hands in the world.
