Ananas Samui Hostel

The owners are lovely and always happy to help. They can do laundry for 60 baht per kilo, and there are cooking facilities, a swimming pool and air conditioning in the rooms. It’s just a lovely place for a quiet retreat. People are happy to chat if you feel like it, but it’s fine if you don’t. It’s a very tranquil, homely spot, surrounded by beautiful greenery, practically in the jungle. If you love plants and flowers, you’ll be in heaven. The beach, a 7-11 and a fresh market selling fish, fruit and vegetables are all within easy reach. I highly recommend this hostel.

There are many aggressive dogs in the area. One evening, a group surrounded us as we were coming back, and we had to defend ourselves with whatever we had at hand. That felt like a safety risk for future guests. Our stay was overshadowed by stress over the host’s actions. When we rented a bike, she asked to hold our passport as a deposit, which we understand is common in Thailand. She misplaced it after leaving it out on the reception table, then initially accused us of taking it. The next day she realized we weren’t responsible, but still didn’t know where it was. She admitted she’d left it on the table overnight, and we were immediately worried it had been stolen. It showed little regard for the safety of an essential travel document and could seriously disrupt a trip. At checkout, she threatened to call the police and report us to Agoda, claiming we hadn’t paid 270 Baht for breakfast. We had paid right after eating through PromptPay and told her about the transfer. Thankfully, we’d saved the receipt, or we couldn’t have disproved the claim. What did she see on the cameras? Why start messages with threats to call the police and report us to Agoda over something we didn’t do? I hope this warns potential guests about document security, the host’s professionalism and safety in the surrounding area.

This was my second time at this hostel, and I’d stay again. It feels like home, the owners are lovely and so helpful, and the people are really nice. The setting is calm, surrounded by nature and close to a beautiful beach. The laundry service is amazing: fast, clean, and nicely ironed. 🫶🏽🫶🏽✨✨✨

The room was tidy, clean and comfortable, and the facilities are great for such a reasonable price. The swimming pool was a big plus, and it was nice and clean. The woman at the counter was very kind and friendly, which made the stay feel welcoming. I’m visiting from Malaysia and will definitely stay here again next time I come to Koh Samui. Highly recommended! 🌴✨
