Beyond Samui

Pla, Lita, and the rest of the team made us feel like family, and the ladies at the massage hut were lovely too. Saying goodbye was hard. We stayed eight nights in January as a family of four, and found the place comfortable and peaceful. Our room was spacious, with comfy beds and strong air conditioning. We often ate at the restaurant and really liked the food. The pool was a favorite, as was breakfast by the sea with that view. We also kayaked and paddle boarded on the calm water right in front of the hotel. Such a lovely spot for a relaxing holiday.

We were comfortable here even though the hotel isn't new or fancy. May at reception went out of her way to arrange a birthday cake delivery for my husband's birthday yesterday, using her own delivery apps. Nan was quick and efficient with housekeeping and made sure the room was restocked. Breakfast service was excellent, though the food itself was just okay. I'm from Singapore and was here for a week. Thanks to the Beyond Samui Team for the thought and effort on my hubby's birthday.

The property itself is good, but they showed very little consideration for guests. The biggest problem came at checkout, when they accused us of taking items that had never been put in our rooms, even disposable slippers, and charged us a hefty extra fee. Communication was extremely difficult because the staff didn't speak English well enough to understand what we were saying. Our checkout was at noon, but cleaners started coming into the rooms without permission from 10am. When we asked them to wait, all they said was “call reception.” They kept standing at the door looking at us to move our luggage, and we ended up leaving an hour early. Calling the front desk or housekeeping was no help either. I tried several times on different days, but nobody ever answered, so I always had to walk to reception myself. Even if someone had picked up, I doubt they would have understood the problem. I understand this is their land, but it's a 4-star hotel where only foreigners were staying. They should at least employ someone local who can speak English and help guests communicate.

Pla, Aor, Lita, Nong, Pueng, Nom, and Ng made us feel very welcome, and the wait staff were lovely. We chose to eat at the resort most of the time, and the food was amazing every time. Chef Nugna, Miew, and Nong were accommodating about our dietary restrictions, and everything was well prepared, nicely presented, and delicious. The rooms were spotless thanks to the cleaning staff. The massage hut at the back of the resort was wonderful too, I haven't felt that relaxed in ages. It's an easy 10-15 minute walk into town if you want to go. The one thing missing is a beach right at the resort, though there’s plenty of sand a couple of hundred metres away. Highly recommend giving it a go.
