Hyatt Regency Koh Samui

The beach is small enough that you don’t feel lost, and our older kids could safely go around on their own. It’s almost private, and the property itself is beautiful, though a bit out of the way. There are shops and restaurants nearby, and the centre is close enough to reach by rented moto. The streets felt safe. Our room was very nice, with bunk beds that worked well for a family. There are lots of activities for adults and children, and the staff are kind and helpful, making an effort to meet guests’ needs. The breakfast restaurant gets crowded later, so go early if you can. One day we were directed to the one near the sea. Ask the staff if you need anything.

You can’t really walk anywhere from the hotel, which is the main drawback, though taxis around the island are easy to get. That’s not the hotel’s fault. We loved staying here and would choose it again on another trip to Koh Samui. The place is gorgeous, with a gym, several pools and a private beach. For the last half of our stay, our room had a lovely sea view. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful.

Sam made our honeymoon especially memorable. From the moment we arrived, he was attentive and kind, and when we ran into a specific problem, he kept working on it until he found the best solution. His care really improved the whole experience. The place is stunning, the service is high-class, and the whole team was warm and welcoming. Highly recommended.

The Regency Club happy hour runs from 5-7, with generous food and free drinks, enough to count as dinner. The breakfast buffet for Globalists is great, and the beach restaurant manager, Art, is fantastic, so service there was good. Standard rooms are nearly as good as suites, though that’s a downside if you’re hoping for a suite upgrade. The layout makes relaxing difficult without kids. The adults’ pool sits between a shallow pool full of toddlers and the kids’ pool, so there’s no quiet place to unwind. The beach is small and mostly big pebbles rather than sand. Water runoff from the main pool pours out behind the adult pool chairs and sounds like someone peeing behind your head all day. Most staff aren’t very proficient in English. The hotel is east of the airport, so getting to most places means driving around it. A good pick for Globalists traveling with families, but the design has drawbacks for people without children.
