InterContinental Koh Samui Resort by IHG

We spent most of our time relaxing on site rather than taking the many excursions, though they looked fun. The place has a peaceful, reflective feel, with a nice mix of younger families and older guests. Many guests were German and had children, but it was rarely disruptive. The saxophone background music at Flame bar was a bit louder than we wanted one night, though the musician was very good. The DJ at Amber gave the restaurant a Buddha-bar sort of atmosphere, and the Thai food there was amazing, especially the Phad Thai, steamed sea bass, and vermicelli/crab curry. The property is a little older than some newer places, but lovingly maintained and fits beautifully into its surroundings. The beach and pools are well placed and managed. The gym overlooks the water and has various machines and barbells for a full-body cardio or strength workout. Bottled water was a welcome extra. Food usually came quickly with a smile, although Flame was a little slow at lunch one day despite not being busy. The quality was top-notch. We also had a Thai massage and an oil massage, both heavenly, maybe the best I’ve had. Service was attentive and superior throughout, and the food was delicious and attractively presented. No little detail seemed to be missed. We had a truly wonderful experience at this InterContinental, would come back anytime, and recommend it highly.

The pool villas are gorgeous, private, comfortable, and have breathtaking views. It was hard to leave. I also had several spa treatments, all exceptional. Ms. Koy deserves a special mention for her skill, intuition, and professionalism. The spa felt world-class. Everyone looked after us so well, from the buggy staff and guards to reception, pool attendants, club lounge, and restaurant teams. Ms. Natcha at Amber made us feel like more than just guests. Thank you all. Service across the resort was warm, attentive, and caring. A wonderful stay at InterContinental Koh Samui, highly recommended if you want luxury, relaxation, and thoughtful hospitality.

I usually go for big, busy cities, so I wasn't sure an island resort in a remote area would be for me. After four nights here, I'd absolutely recommend it. The grounds and views are beautiful, and the staff's hospitality made the place a real winner. We came for our wedding anniversary and felt appreciated as soon as we arrived. We’d told the hotel in advance, and they surprised us with several perks. I have IHG Platinum status through the IHG Premier credit card, and we were upgraded to a king club lounge room. They explained that lounge guests could get snacks and soft drinks all day, including coffee, milkshakes, and smoothies. Each day from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM there was cocktail hour, with alcoholic and non-alcoholic options from cocktails to beer. Watching the beautiful sunset with a cocktail became a daily highlight. Cream looked after us especially well in the club lounge. Amber’s breakfast buffet had a good selection and attentive staff. Miu and Latin at the lobby were also especially friendly and made us feel welcome. On our last day we booked the four-hour Touch of Celestial Beauty treatment at Baan Spa. Koy and Rose were fantastic, checking that the massage pressure and room temperature suited us. The hotel also has its own private dock. I highly recommend walking to the end at night for a much clearer view of the stars.

The view was spectacular, the hotel itself is beautiful, and our villa was lovely, though a bit too big for the three of us since one family member unfortunately couldn't come. Breakfast was the best. As our stay is nearly over, I want to thank all the staff and management. It's rare to spend a lot and still want to come back 😅. There are a few small things I'd change. It wasn't clear that you could ask for mango or watermelon at breakfast. Restaurant prices are really high, and sometimes the quality didn't match, especially with cocktails and mocktails. The pina colada and mojito were really bad 🫣. Some pool bar staff forgot orders, though others were great. All in all, we had a great few days relaxing without leaving the hotel grounds. The management does a great job.
