Nova Samui Resort

The staff were excellent and service minded, and we had a good holiday. Nova Samui is what you'd expect for the price, with the standard of a 3 star hotel. There are insects, but that seems normal on a tropical island near a garden. Windows facing the street or the other hotel should be replaced with 3-layer glass. Saturdays were too noisy.

We could walk to Chaweng Beach from Nova Samui Resort, and the hotel area itself felt peaceful, away from the busy main beach strip. The pool was a nice place for a dip after exploring the island. We'd happily stay here again, and found it a comfortable, convenient and calm option near the beach. Our room had a balcony where we could relax, plus a kettle with tea and coffee for morning drinks. It was spacious and comfortable throughout our visit. The staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. We also liked that there was no security deposit at check-in, which kept arrival simple.

I was glad this was only a one-night stay. The staff were very nice, but the room was in an unacceptable state and clearly needs renovation. The bed was extremely hard, and the air conditioner barely cooled, with water leaking from it inside the room. The hotel was noisy and the room had no soundproofing at all. The stairs were steep and tiring to climb. For the same price, I think another hotel would be a much better choice.

There was no one at reception when we tried to report the problem, and nobody helped. For two nights in a row, very loud parties went on well past midnight. With every window closed, it still felt as if the party was inside our room. We couldn't sleep, had headaches, and were completely exhausted. A hotel should at least let guests rest, and that didn't happen here. I wouldn't recommend it if sleep matters to you.
