The pool is kept up well and has lovely views of the beach and sea. Staff were attentive and friendly, which helped make our time enjoyable despite the hotel feeling old. The place is accommodation only, with no restaurant or bar, but there’s a 7-Eleven about 100 metres away for drinks to keep in the room fridge. A few cafés, small eateries, and friendly bars are nearby, though Bangrak itself is generally quiet and laid-back. We were in a Deluxe Villa with Sea View. You could really see the sea only by sitting sideways on the balcony. Inside, the room was dated but clean and comfortable, with very good bedding and towels. The terrace came in handy when the regular afternoon rain arrived, though the hard wooden seats were extremely uncomfortable and could easily be improved. There’s vegetation around the hotel and stagnant water in some old fountains, which unfortunately brings mosquitoes. Some mosquito control in the evenings would make it more comfortable. The property also looks like an older holdout beside much more modern neighbouring hotels. It draws plenty of short-stay visitors because it’s conveniently close to the piers for island-hopping trips. After our nine nights at Punnpreeda Beach Resort, we thought three would probably have been enough.

I only stayed one night, and everything was just right, especially the super friendly staff. The accommodation is on the beach side of the Mainstreet in north samui. Traffic on the nearby street made it a bit noisy until midnight, but earplugs would take care of that. Next morning, I walked about 10 minutes to catch my ferry to Koh phangan.

Our beach side apartment was lovely, especially the very cosy bed and the private jacuzzi on the terrace. Paulo and his teamare incredibly kind and helpful, and they arranged the airport pick-up perfectly. We had such a wonderful stay, definitely worth it.

The staff were the one really good thing here. The rooms are old but clean, and the shower pressure and Wi-Fi were both weak. Light still got in around the blackout curtains, and the wardrobe wouldn’t close fully, so its light stayed on all night. There was noise from a band outside, the aircon compressor’s struggling hum, and sounds that might have been cicadas or grasshoppers.

The pool and beach looked stunning and were well maintained throughout the day. Staff were exceptionally friendly, and the bed was really comfortable, though I could have used a second pillow. They provided a complimentary taxi to the airport. There were several cats around the complex and very friendly dogs dropping by throughout the day. A 24-hour McDonald’s and 7 Eleven are less than a minute away on foot. The shower pressure could be better.
