Samui Beach Residence Hotel

The location in the center is the only good thing about this hotel. It was probably the worst place I’ve ever stayed. There’s no elevator, only stairs about 20 cm tall, so good luck with a suitcase. Service was terrible, and it stops around 11pm. The rooms seem all right at first, but look worse the longer you inspect them. Our sheets had lots of strange-colored stains, and there was a gecko and lots of mosquitoes in the room. The shower was unacceptable too. The drain didn’t work and water stood on the floor. We called a staff member, who fixed it with a knife taken from the kitchen drawer in our room. Don’t waste your money here, even if it’s cheap. There are lots of health issues that come with it.

The attached restaurant served good quality food, which was a handy bonus. The hotel is also well placed, within walking distance of the boxing stadium, with a 7/11 just around the corner. Chaweng Beach is close, though it was quiet and not much was happening there while I was visiting. For the price, it was an okay stay. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, but the air conditioning was noisy and could disturb me at night. There’s no lift, so luggage is a hassle on the higher floors, and it wouldn’t suit someone with mobility issues. Mornings got noisy when other guests were checking out or heading out. A budget-friendly place with a good location and roomy accommodation, if you can live with stairs and some noise.

The night was quiet, and in about a 10min walk you’re right in the middle of the action. There’s a 7eleven around the corner, and check-in and checkout both worked great. Nice room, though I was only there for one night.

It felt more like staying in an apartment than a hotel. The location is good, with lots nearby, and the restaurant downstairs serves decent food, though breakfast isn’t offered. Service was okay, nothing special. They gave me a triple bedroom as a solo guest 🤔. The room was decent but could use renovation, especially the shower and kitchen area. There’s no elevator, and the stairs are too steep, so take care with luggage. It’s not kid-friendly either.
