The State House by Beach Republic

You’re right on the beach, with private and shared pools, great service, and laundry and activities that can be booked at reception. Breakfast was great and dinner was amazing too. The beach or in-room massages were professional and relaxing. Worth every penny. This is the place to stay in Samui!

The beach and location suited us perfectly since we wanted somewhere quieter. The sea and sand weren’t crowded, and we could reach all the main attractions within 20 minutes by Grab. When we were on the beach beds, the downsides faded away, and the food we ordered there was the best we had on Koh Samui. It is pricey compared with typical Thailand prices. We booked the pool villa through Airbnb, but the location listed there was wrong. That wasn’t Beach Republic’s fault. The villa was nice but dated, and cleanliness didn’t seem to be a priority. The wider property looked worn too, as other reviews have mentioned. We were generally satisfied because the staff were incredibly friendly and available. On the first day, we reported a kitchen water leak. They said a technician would follow up, but we never heard anything more and nothing was resolved. At least we didn’t see any cockroaches or pests. The security guard was posted right outside our door, which had gaps where someone could theoretically peek in. He personally did nothing wrong, though. He was usually there, friendly and courteous, and checked in to see how we were doing. Outside the door, as in the photos, electrical wires made noise constantly and sometimes sparked. For the price, it didn’t quite meet our expectations, so we probably wouldn’t book again at that rate. We’d consider returning after renovations or if the price came down.

The rooms were clean, large, and spacious, with cooking facilities and a really roomy balcony, though the view from it wasn’t much. The staff were super nice and accommodating. There’s a nice pool area and beach access, but the place is far from everything and Grabs are expensive, so you’d definitely need to rent a bike.

De Lar, the employee at the pool, was so polite, kind, and helpful. I’ve rarely come across a waitress or staff member that friendly. You have a very good employee, and I wish you all the best. Best regards ☺️
