The spot is hard to beat, right in the middle of Sairee Beach. Sitting outside with that view was lovely, once I looked past the sandbags. The beds were just okay and there’s a big fridge, but the place is showing a lot of wear. The bathroom needs repairs, and the garden out front still looked awful two months after the storm. The palm trees need attention too. Wi-Fi was down more often than it worked. At night, you can hear loud teenagers walking along the street behind the beachfront villas. No cars, though.

Lin was a friendly, knowledgeable host who helped us arrange taxis, ferries and excursions, and shared ideas for island spots and things to see. The location is right in the centre, about 30 seconds from the beach, restaurants and massage places.

We booked a beachfront room for two weeks, but when we arrived we were told it wasn’t available. They offered us a room on the back street at a ridiculous price instead. When I asked the manager about a better option, she was quite rude and hung up on me. This service was a real disappointment. It’s the first time I’ve left a one-star review, and it feels deserved.

Don’t stay here. The online photos don’t match what you get: the rooms and bathrooms are dirty, and four guests are expected to share one power outlet. There were rat droppings behind the curtains, which clearly hadn’t been cleaned. The woman at reception can be rude, too. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. Book somewhere else.
