Chom By The Sea

An inexpensive hotel right on the beach. The cleaning staff were keen and helpful, and the front desk arranged my island-hopping tour. The downsides: Grab couldn't find it unless I used the Thai name or searched for the location manually. Also, locals raced modified motorcycles late at night, and it was really loud.

The room wasn't very clean, and the worst thing was that someone shot berries onto our balcony, getting our clothes dirty. Three items are damaged now. The manager promised to sort it out, but nothing happened. I think the person shooting them may be a mad man who lives nearby. He usually goes to the sea and talks to himself. The location is pretty good, near the sea, with lots of restaurants around.

We left after one night, despite having paid for four. The room smelled awful throughout. The pillows and sheets had an old-sweat smell, the air conditioning stank as if something had died inside it, and there was black mold in the shower. Worst hotel I've ever slept in. When we raised the problems, the hotel wouldn't help and just said to contact Booking. They offered no solution, and we're worried we won't get our money back. Don't book here.

Good price, clean place, and a nice buffet breakfast. The owner looked after us really well and tried to help whenever we needed something.
