The beachfront location was the standout, with peaceful surroundings and lovely sunsets. Breakfast was decent, and many staff members were really nice. That’s about all the good I can say. Both pools had problems. The quieter one looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned in a while, with very dirty floors and walls covered in brown spots. Its sunbeds were claimed with towels from the morning, even when people weren’t there, which felt like middle school. That shouldn’t be allowed. The other pool was in better shape but very noisy, and its limited loungers were also all reserved early. There were no umbrellas, so finding shade was difficult. Some towels were more like rags, with holes and a lot of wear. The hotel is run down and needs renovation. The restaurant gets busy when tour groups come in twice a day, including people from outside the resort, and service is very slow.

The staff were a bright spot, friendly, attentive and generally helpful. We also had several power outages during our stay, and each was fixed quickly. Still, there was no sign anyone was trying to address the underlying problems. The villas are adequate, but dated, especially the bathrooms. Their surrounding gardens are poorly maintained, and everyday upkeep overall seems minimal. Some attention to detail would make a real difference. The resort’s location by the sea is excellent, easily its strongest feature, but the property doesn’t make the most of it. The restaurant isn’t worth visiting, even with the sea view. Its mismatched plastic and wooden furniture makes the space feel uncomfortable and uninviting. The pool has little to no shade, and the loungers are cheap plastic. Parasols that appear in older photos are no longer provided because of the wind, though nearby properties seem to manage them. Poor maintenance and a short-term approach to problems keep the resort from living up to its potential.

The beach was fantastic, and the paths between the rooms were lovely and cozy. Almost all the staff were very friendly. Those were the highlights for us. The rooms had thin walls, and after 7 am it was hard to sleep because of staff walkie-talkies, birds and people walking past. Clean towels were forgotten twice. The shower pressure was very low, and the drain was clogged. At the beach café, service was so slow that I waited 10 minutes for a bottle of water and a glass of boxed juice. They didn’t serve fresh orange juice, which I always look forward to, or fresh coconuts. Breakfast was decent, with nothing to complain about, but we chose to eat elsewhere most days. The pool’s dark brown wooden floor got so hot it burned our feet without shoes, and there were no umbrellas. We had a nice stay overall, but these issues would probably have led us to choose another resort if we’d known about them.

We paid €147 per night in Feb 2026. Long beach makes it awkward to find a comfortable mid-priced 4-star place: 3-star Nakara isn’t expensive and can be nice, but has various problems, while the next-door 5-star Layana resort is clearly overpriced at €500-€600 per night. There’s no middle ground. Hotels, massages and scooter rentals on Long Beach are 30% more than in Klong Kong, 10 minutes to the south. Our 'Luxury bungalows' were spacious and fresh, with a large terrace and a partly unobstructed sea view. The resort sits right on the very nice Long Beach, and the bungalows aren’t squeezed together, with roomy walking paths between them. A lot of the place feels cheap. For example, the pool decking is made of material that gets scorching hot in the sun and can burn your feet. The pool also had so much chlorine that our eyes burned after a short swim. Maintenance of the gardens and resort is poor, and some bungalows look as if they might fall apart, with planks coming off the walls and cracked foundations. The street from the main road down to the hotel was lined with junk, and I wouldn’t want to walk it after dark. Check-in was a bit chaotic and poorly coordinated. Breakfast was chaotic too, didn’t taste very good, and there weren’t enough seats. The coffee was especially bad. Pool chairs were limited and always 'reserved', with no umbrellas and little shade. Nearby resorts had more trees around their pools. The gym barely has any equipment, so it can hardly be called a gym. Russian tourist groups came by boat every day for lunch at the restaurant, but the food wasn’t very good.

I’d been hesitant to book after reading some negative comments, but I really had nothing to worry about. The location is great, the staff are excellent, and breakfast was excellent too. Rooms are clean, the pools are amazing and the beachfront is beautiful. There isn’t much afternoon shade, and a few things could do with repairs or renovation, but that’s similar to other places I’ve stayed in Thailand. I recommend it!
