The Scene Cliff View Villas

The reception staff were friendly and cooperative, and service and housekeeping were good. Our room was a good size, clean, and had some facilities, with a nice mountain view. It’s a relaxing location, but a little far from the beach and attractions, though they run a shuttle to the beach a few times a day. Prices were high, perhaps because it was high season. Breakfast was poor, with little variety.

The staff made this a welcoming, peaceful stay, and breakfast was a highlight. Eggs were cooked fresh to order, and the coffee machine was the best of all the places we stayed in Thailand, with cappuccinos, flat whites and Thai milk tea. Dum Dum and Fye, the resident cats, were another lovely part of the visit. Dum Dum is vaccinated, neutered and very friendly. When the staff found out I love cats, they let me feed him lunch and dinner, which I’ll remember fondly. The hotel is away from the busy, noisy Ao Nang strip, though still around the Strip of Ao Nang, and we appreciated the quieter setting. Beach towels are provided, and the free shuttle to Ao Nang Beach was useful. I wish it came more often: after we left at 2pm, the next pickup was at 6pm. Walking back around 5pm took about 30 minutes, so it wasn’t a major problem. Room service was excellent and reasonably priced, only around 20 baht more than the cheapest street options. For example, garlic rice was 150 baht here versus 130 baht outside, so eating in was convenient. The room was on the small side, and the AC doesn’t reach the living area with the sofa and TV very well. A large fan helps. No hair conditioner was provided, but 7-Eleven is a five-minute walk away. The gym was quite basic, with no free weights except 8 kg dumbbells, an old-feeling treadmill and little room for YouTube or bodyweight workouts. Laundry was convenient and good value at 60 baht per kilogram. Clothes dropped off in the morning were ready around 8 pm the same day, faster and only slightly more expensive than nearby shops at around 55 baht per kilo. It was a lovely stay, and we’d happily recommend the hotel.

The front desk worked hard to accommodate what I needed. Booking a tour and arranging a ride to the airport were both easy. I’d recommend using the shuttle service too. After a full day out, it was nice to see the cliff behind the resort stretching toward the beach. The restaurant above the lobby served good food, a welcome break from the usual Indian and Thai cuisine along the main road to the beach.

We couldn’t bring ourselves to leave this hotel. The decor is magnificent, though the room could use a little more care. What really made our stay fantastic was the staff and their support, along with all those smiles. The one bad part was the laundry. Two pieces came back ruined, and the clothes smelled really bad. They should consider using a different laundry service.
