Grand Andaman Resort

The resort is in a lovely spot, right by a peaceful beach with fishing boats parked there, and next to the national park entrance. The staff were incredibly welcoming. There weren't any vans available because of the public holiday in Thailand, so the owner kindly drove us to Pak Bara Viewpoint herself, picked us up from the resort, and let us stop at 7-Eleven. She showed us nearby attractions and shared how the resort got started, too. She communicates easily, speaks English and Kelantanese, and really made us feel at home.

We tried three nearby lunch spots, Nava Seafood, Rimle Kitchen and Papayamom, and preferred Nava. Try their udang masak asam jawa 😊 Before checkout, Puan Hajah, the owner of Grand Andaman Resort, also kindly took us to the fresh crab farm near Pakarang Resort. She's often organizing boat trips, so I hope to come back someday between November-May and try one, in sha Allah. The resort is in front of Mu Ko Pethra National Park. Our host suggested a morning walk, but it rained on the first morning and my sister was unwell the next day. There were lots of boats at the beach, so my children didn't get to play there. We could hear the waves from our rooms. A more suitable beach is under five minutes away by car, but we didn't go. It was wonderful staying here, and I loved the rooms. The owner, Hajah Nik Faezah, kindly upgraded us so our two rooms were next to each other. We could park right in front of them. My family room had three spacious beds, a very clean toilet, sofa, writing table, mini fridge, water heater, TV, and aircond. My sister's room had two spacious beds and similar amenities. Saturday morning's halal buffet had fried shrimp chicken rice, chicken porridge with condiments, fried eggs, bread, and traditional kueh. On Sunday, the host sent breakfast we'd chosen. She was so generous with four big servings of fried rice, chicken basil with white rice, and rice porridge for our family room, plus two big iced espressos, a big iced latte, and a big iced cocoa. It all tasted delicious.

The owner, Jah, spoke perfect English, having studied in Chicago, and helped us every day. She was such a kind and gracious host, and the food, coffee, rooms, and service were all amazing. We stayed during the rainy season, before our diving trip, and were so glad to be welcomed to Thailand by such a lovely person. This quiet, secluded resort is a little away from the pier and right beside Mu Ko Phetra National Park. Breakfast was at the lovely, cozy coffee shop out front. Jah arranged a private boat trip to a deserted island, though I'm sure it gets busy in tourist season, and later a private visit to the live market. She took us there, which was our first Thai market experience.

A good choice if you want to get away from the main road and crowds. There are cute older cabins, which feel more private, or newer VIP rooms that are smart and comfortable. The food was good, and the host was kind and helpful, as others have mentioned. Thanks for a great stay.
