The hotel feels old-fashioned, though my room was fairly clean and roomy, and the low price helps. It has an elevator with music, and guest rooms spread across seven floors. The staff were useful despite speaking little English. Getting around was easy from here: there’s a well-known noodle place, a good congee shop, the weekend market, and Aroy one baht close by. The Black bridge park is worth a photo stop too. Lampang itself didn’t seem to offer much beyond a few temples and a distinctive horse-carriage ride. No bikes to rent at the hotel. For laundry, there’s a nearby coin-operated DIY washer and dryer, or you can hang clothes under cover on the fifth floor, where the hotel also dries its linens. I wasn’t keen on the bedding. It’s a white sheet with a separate cover that slips off easily. Maybe it was just my room, but little flies kept showing up in the toilet at night. I got rid of around ten, though I couldn’t tell where they came from.

The room was clean, and the weekend market is an easy walk away. The Wi-Fi asks you to sign in with your room number, apparently for some sort of data collection, which I didn’t like.

I spent about three weeks in a fan room. It was cleaned daily when I wanted, and the Wi-Fi was okay. At 280 baht a night, the rooms are cheap, even if they’ve seen better days. It was wonderfully quiet after Bangkok. The weekend market is just one street away, so the location is great. There’s a dog in a cage at the neighboring house; its sad barking can get to you and might wake you. They do let it out, though, and it seems like it needs more exercise.

I couldn’t stay, so the money felt wasted. My room smelled like a woman’s toilet and had no hot water. I asked to upgrade, but the other rooms looked just as bad or worse. The woman at the desk was okay, but I lost my money. Horrible.

The rooms were dirty and in pretty bad shape, even though they’re cheap. The staff were helpful. Whether the price makes it worthwhile is up to you, but I wouldn’t return unless they renovated or cleaned things up.
