Nett Hotel

The place is very clean, which mattered most to me. It’s a small, clean hotel in the center of lopburi, close to the city’s main sights, including the monkey temple. There isn’t much to do in town, so it worked fine for a one-night stay. The beds are Thai style, with hard mattresses, though luckily our room had two beds and the second was a little softer. I’d recommend it if you’re not expecting a higher-standard hotel.

The location is excellent and the staff are friendly. My fan-only room was comfortable for the three nights I stayed. It had lots of windows, so it stayed fairly cool and felt fresh, and there were places to sit outside the room. The bathroom was the weak spot: the cold shower had little pressure, and the tap wasn’t working properly.

The room wasn’t ready when we arrived, with unmade beds and no cleaning done, but the staff reacted quickly and had it sorted in under ten minutes. We didn’t sleep much, mostly because monkeys kept jumping at the windows at night. It’s a hotel, so there’s nowhere to make breakfast or hang out with other guests, but that’s okay since everything is close and there’s a market nearby. Good value for the money. Bring earplugs!

The location is the one good thing: near the train station, Lopburi’s main food streets, and the main temples and ruins. The room feels dated and dirty, and there’s just one plug in the whole room. The bed is very hard, presumably traditional. The tiny bathroom has no ceiling, so its smells get into the room easily. The owner or receptionist says reception is open 24 hours, but the entrance gate is shut, and it can take a while for someone to come open it. They also own Noom Guest House, which looks much better and has a restaurant for tourists. That place left me with a much better impression. I only wish they’d put more money into this one.
