Baan Maihorm Guesthouse

We liked this guesthouse enough to extend our time in Mae Chan. The leafy entrance and pleasant music made it easy to spend hours reading or just relaxing. Our room was comfortable and had air conditioning and a fridge, and breakfast was included for a great price. Tea, coffee, and drinking water were available all day, and a nice market was close by. We could also borrow a couple of old bikes to get around town. The staff were kind, hardworking, and helpful.

The owner had souvenirs on display in the reception and restaurant, collected during travels in many countries. The place has a unique old country style, and our room was clean and comfortable. The owner and staff were friendly, though their English was limited. We had a positive stay.

The quiet setting and the nearby local market were a big part of what I liked here. It's only a short walk to the market, handy for exploring without going far. Tucked beside a small road, the property opens into a garden, and Ms Tom greeted me warmly, showed me around, then took me to my room upstairs. It felt like a home away from home, and was the first place I'd felt moved to review by 2022. My room had a traditional Thai style, parquet flooring, and thick, solid wooden beds that were quite firm. The bathroom was clean, and the cold water felt good after a hot, sweaty afternoon in Thailand. It's peaceful, too, a nice spot to read or have coffee or tea just outside the room.

The bathroom floor was wet because a pipe was leaking and dripping onto the toilet. The room itself was clean, and the service was nice, but nobody could speak English, so we ended up paying much more for the service than we had been told. Breakfast was okay.
