I booked one night after missing the bus on my way to Doi Mae Salong, but I loved the place enough to stay for two days. I’ve spent four months travelling around Thailand, backpacked through Europe, and stayed in countless hostels, and this is one of my favorites. The relaxed garden starts as soon as you enter the gate, with flowers, butterflies, and a beautiful well that was one of just two in the village many years ago. The owner, Meo, is what makes it special. She speaks perfect english, is fun and interesting to talk with, and does small things that make you feel at home. Both days she left local food and breakfast out for me free of charge, let me borrow a bike to ride around the city, and gave me really good movie recommendations. Ask her what her primary career is. If you want to avoid the big touristy places, relax, and get to know an authentic small city, I highly recommend staying here.
