Ama Maesalong

That breakfast is a proper feast, we were full enough to barely eat the rest of the day. There are vegetarian options too. The family are welcoming and helpful, and with a 7/11 across the road plus plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby, it’s easy to find food. We stayed two nights and loved it. The room was spotless, the bed was comfy, the shower was lovely, and the views were something else. Having two balconies made the room feel special. We spent time doing yoga and relaxing upstairs on the mats and cushions. I’d definitely stay again and hope to return next year.

We booked a room without a balcony for $38 USD, but were upgraded to the 20E Deluxe Room with a balcony. The room was spacious, clean, modern and beautiful, and the view outside was incredible. My husband and I got up early to sit out on the balcony and watch the sunrise, then went down for a refreshing, filling breakfast. There’s a friendly, very cute dog and cat living on the property, and I had fun petting them. This was the best stay I had in Thailand, and one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. They clearly put a lot into looking after guests. If I’m in Mae Salong again, I’d come back in a heartbeat.

The owners greeted us warmly and were very friendly. Our room was clean and fairly large for the price, with a nice view. The shower was fine for me. Breakfast was fantastic, though there weren’t many choices. There’s no elevator, and parking is limited.

A long table runs across the room, so there’s plenty of space to put your things, though in our twin room with two big beds it felt a little like a coworking space. The hotel is clean and neat, with good blinds, air conditioning and a comfortable bed, all important for getting a good night’s sleep. It’s right in the center of the main road, close to 7-11, food and other things. There are enough positives that it should get five stars, and it works well for families and couples. What made the stay uncomfortable for me was the noise. People in nearby rooms banged doors and talked loudly, and big bikes passing on the road could also be heard. There’s no small fridge in the room, which is a real drawback in hot weather if you need milk, water, yoghurt or other things close at hand. Instead, they have to go downstairs to the lobby and back up again. There was shampoo in the bathroom but no body wash. I’m not sure why. A fridge in the room would make this place great.
