There are different rooms at different prices. We chose the cheapest, which had a comfortable bed and shutters that kept the room dark. The toilets and showers in the shared bathroom at the back of the building were clean. Water was available to refill. The Songthiew stops there from Mae Chan, then goes on to the junction with the main road, where you can catch a bus for Chiang Dao. It leaves the village at 7.30am, and the bus passes by at 9am, though we hitchhiked to Tha Ton. There was no kettle, which was the only negative. The village gets going early, so don't expect quiet, though the rooms farther back may be calmer.

The rooms were large and clean, with a balcony and an excellent shower. The beds were comfortable too, a relief after so many very hard ones in SE Asia. One of the best-value places we stayed during our 5 weeks around Thailand.

We stayed a night in one of the bungalows, which felt very private and quiet. The bed was softer than usual, surprisingly, and the pillows were really comfy. On Saturday morning we found a local fresh-produce market next door and walked 100 metres down to join in. It was a great experience. Later, we walked around the whole town and found a yummy local restaurant for called Salima. The staff were very friendly.

It's a charming place in a perfect location, and I had two wonderful, quiet nights here. I'd come again. You can also pick a bungalow. It's a 50 years old wooden house, so it makes some noise, but it's definitely fine. Don't expect to sleep in, though. People in the village get up early and head to work, so you'll hear some cars and bikes from around 6am. Nothing earplugs can't solve.

I liked my room with the shared shower. Everything was clean, the bedding was clean, the bed was big, and all the towels were new. There was a shared hair dryer, and the Wi-Fi was good and fast. I don't understand complaints about noise. At night nobody drives through the village, not even motorbikes. And having no glass windows is normal in Thai villages.
