TANA's Resort Homestay

We arrived in Mae Hong Son while touring Thailand and hadn’t booked anywhere. This place turned out to be a gem: individual huts that were clean, comfortable and quiet, for $32.00CDN/800Bahts a night. It was just five minutes by car from the walking street, which worked perfectly for us. We stayed two nights. The owner spoke a little English and was so nice. It’s cash only. We had a great stay and I’d highly recommend it.

The buildings themselves are great, with nice bathrooms and Wi-Fi, and the rooms are nice. But there was no bed sheet, which has happened to us in other places across Thailand too. The quilt on top probably doesn’t get washed often, so I didn’t feel comfortable using it. The beds are really hard as well. It’s not near the night market or much else, and there’s no breakfast, so head into town early or get something the night before. A good place overall, with a couple of odd inconveniences.

The chalets are individual and lovely, in peaceful surroundings. It’s a couple of kilometres from town, and we had some trouble finding it. The staff were helpful and knew a lot about local attractions. I’d definitely stay longer next time.

Good value for the money, with a clean room and friendly staff, just as other reviews said. It’s a bit out of the way and inconvenient, with the nearest 7 eleven about a five-minute ride away. The air conditioner is only 1hp, too weak for a big room in hot season, and should be better. The windows are see-through with thin curtains, so if you walk around naked, be ready to show a little. No harm.
