Baan Suan Auy Kham

We only stopped in for lunch, but we'd definitely come back to stay. After our walk we returned to a delicious northern Thai meal. The owner, Tata, was super nice and showed us around the property.

The host is very nice, but I can't recommend this place. It's dirty and falling apart, with insects and animal droppings around the apartment and mattress. The ceiling was leaking in the middle of the bathroom, and the toilet seat was broken and detached. I had to tie it with a string to keep it open. The bathrooms were disgustingly dirty and creepy. It also felt unsafe. The host didn't give us a key even after we asked several times, so we couldn't lock the front door. Anyone from the street or the other bungalows could enter while we were away, and we couldn't secure our belongings. There was no internet, and the old TV only had Thai channels.

We spotted this hidden gem from the roadside on our way from Chiang Saen to Mae Sai. We had lunch, and the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and explained the food and the property. There's lodging and a campsite as well as the restaurant. Highly recommended if you're in the area.

We had a wonderful stay at Baan suan Auy-kham. The rooms were big and very clean. The owner was very friendly and showed us around, pointing out lots of things to do that we hadn't known about before. I wish we'd had more time. Fully recommend it, including for bikepackers and people traveling around by motorcycle.
