The Teak Hotel (SHA Extra Plus)

The breakfast was superb, and I was really impressed by the gym. I've never seen a hotel gym with cable flys! The rooms, restaurant, and amenities were all sparkling clean. The rates aren't ridiculously high, though the in-house restaurant is pricey. People regard it as the finest hotel in Mae Sot, and it lives up to that reputation. If I'm back in Mae Sot, I'd choose this resort again without hesitation.

The hotel restaurant was the best part of our stay. My steak was incredible, the food was superb, and the wines were good without being overpriced. There's also a nice swimming pool, and breakfast is included. The coffee was a bit strong, but adding water fixed that. My wife is from the area, and I've been coming up to Maesot for years. Teak brings the experience up to world-class standards. The bed was excellent, especially for upcountry. The rooms were clean and quiet, the air conditioning worked well, and there was a room safe. The hotel is pleasant, close enough to walk around town, and felt safe.

After traveling from chiang mai to mae sot, we weren't given a room because I didn't have my original passport with me. They wouldn't accept a passport picture, my Thai driving license, or my Thai work permit. In 13 years in Thailand, I've never had such bad service. That hotel should be closed!

We had a great stay as a family. It was quiet and cozy, and the location made it easy to get around. The staff were warm and helpful, and we liked the range of breakfast choices. Our room was clean and practical. We'll definitely come back.
