Baansuan Chomchun

Baan Suan Chomchan is in Mae Taeng, right by the entrance to Kaeng Kuet and the elephant camp tourist area. I paid 680 baht for a twin-bed room, which seemed fair for what was included. It's a reasonable, simple place to rest if you're passing through on a budget. The building looks aged, though, and the narrow path to the rooms makes getting around less convenient. The setting could offer lovely views, but the design and materials don't quite fit the natural surroundings. It feels like a chance to make the place more inviting was missed.

This was the worst place we've stayed in Thailand. The room didn't match the listing: we were put in a moldy plywood room instead of the one we'd booked. After we showed the housekeeper, she moved us to a slightly better room, but it still wasn't what we reserved. It was extremely overpriced, and there was no WiFi. I contacted the owner asking for a partial refund because of the misleading booking, but never got a reply. We would never come back. 👎👎👎

We'd booked a tent and a two-person bed, but were given a room with two separate beds instead. There was mold in many places, and an old, dirty mattress sat in the “living room.” We left because the price was high and the place wasn't what we'd ordered; we also didn't want to sleep there and needed to find somewhere else. We couldn't find the owner before leaving, and the owner refused to refund us. I don't know how there aren't more bad reviews, but I wouldn't recommend it.

We stopped here for lunch on a Sunday ride. The food was okay, but not especially memorable. Don't expect much table service, either. We had to call several times to get anyone's attention.
