Tung Lakorn Farm

The owners were warm and welcoming, and the pool villa was a fantastic little retreat with friends. We had a bonfire, hung out by the pool, and ate moo kata. I’d definitely recommend it and want to come back.

The atmosphere here is lovely, and the owner is so kind and friendly. Our spacious pool villa was beautiful, clean, and comfortable, with a private swimming pool beside the stream. The bathroom was especially nice, very roomy and convenient, with a jacuzzi. Breakfast was delicious. If you’re looking for a peaceful spot surrounded by nature, I’d recommend it.

The garden is lovely and the property was clean and well kept, but the experience fell far short of what we expected for the very high prices. The biggest problem was the room listing. Our original room was advertised on Booking, Agoda, and Google as having a bathtub, and a tub with hot water was a key reason we booked. What we found was an outdoor basin that only took cold water, basically a cold plunge pool. Calling that a bathtub felt misleading and disappointing. The listed size of 120 m² also included the outdoor area, so the interior felt much smaller than we’d expected. We switched to another room that was correctly described as shower only, but the shower was disappointing too. The pressure was very low, the water barely got hot, and the fittings were heavily covered in limescale. At this price, that’s unacceptable, especially when we’ve had much better showers in far more basic places. Other bathroom details also seemed careless and unfinished. Breakfast was the last straw. It’s meant to be served from 8:00 to 10:00, but at 8:59 there was no staff around and the setup was very sparse: toast, without butter or jam. Our breakfast seemed to have been made more than an hour earlier and wrapped in plastic to eat “whenever.” That simply isn’t acceptable at this price. The day before, when there were more guests, breakfast was clearly better, which made the inconsistency even more frustrating. We chose this place for its garden setting and promise of a peaceful, high-end stay. The garden and cleanliness were nice, but for this price everything should feel carefully thought through. The gap between what was promised online and what we got was too big, and the stay was very disappointing.

Tung Lakorn Farm is a large, secluded, well-kept property, and we enjoyed the quiet and our visit to The Happy Elephant Home. Staying in this area isn’t cheap, which I suspect is because it’s elephant country. We got a warm welcome, with the help of an online translation service since the lovely woman speaks only Thai. Pom was very helpful on the phone and speaks good English. The house was huge, clean, and idyllic, with a large terrace. The homemade padtai was delicious and cost 150 bath. The downsides were cold water and no WiFi in our room. Pom kindly arranged a ride to Chiang Dao for 1200 bath.
