The central spot on the city’s main road made it easy to get around on foot or by taxi, and I’d stay here again if I came back. It feels like the best option in town, as long as you’re not expecting Western standards across the board. The place is grand and seems well looked after, with some rooms and other areas being renovated while we were there. Our room looked brighter and more modern than the photos, with what seemed like fresh paint, laminate floors, and wood panels. The staff were friendly, breakfast was included and decent enough (served 06:00-10:00), and they left plenty of bottled water each day. Gym access was included and good. The outdoor pool was a little strange: it’s at a different hotel behind this one, with nowhere to sit, but it was fine for a quick swim.

The breakfast buffet was basic but perfectly fine, and there’s a large swimming pool. The hotel occupies several buildings. Its decor is a bit dated, though everything seemed well maintained and equipped.

The rooms are beautifully decorated, and the gym is huge, with everything you could want. Breakfast seems aimed at Thai tastes. If you’re not keen on raw onion, raw cabbage, corn, and fried rice in the morning, there isn’t much for you. I suspect the food is prepared elsewhere and brought in: the fried eggs were cold, while cooked dishes were kept warm over a burner. No fruit juice, either. The pool really ought to be closed. Its pump stopped working a long time ago, and pigeons have turned the water into a birdbath.

The rooms are a good size and have convenient amenities, and the price is affordable. In my case, booking at the hotel itself was cheaper than booking online. It’s in a great location, too. If you like Thai-style hotels with traditional decorations and a lot of character, this place is for you.

The staff were well trained, cheerful, and professional, and the hotel was clean and comfortable. It’s clearly a vintage place rather than a new one, but I’m glad they’re keeping it up. I’d give it five stars for the spacious rooms, cleanliness, and staff. The design reminded me of the former Dusit Thani hotel in BKK, with detailed wood trim and Thai decor. It has that distinctive Thai style that’s gradually disappearing as newer hotels go for cheaper minimalist interiors. The hotel looks like it dates from around 1980, though I’m not sure. Rooms had a new flat-screen TV, fridge, good AC, comfortable beds, and plenty of space. The tiled bathroom was old-fashioned, but I appreciated the bathtub and lots of hot water, with a shower attached. Breakfast was a free buffet and better than the usual for Isaan, though the eggs were cold, of course. The large pool is a walk away at another Taksila hotel. The water was a bit murky, and the pool area is basic, but it has showers and a changing area. There’s shaded parking for cars. Professional, well-trained staff The hotel is clean and comfortable
