Melia Phuket Mai Khao

The pool rooms at Melia Phuket are gorgeous, and the property grounds are lovely. Staff were friendly and always willing to help. Breakfast was the weak point for me: the choices weren’t great, and I expected more from a five-star hotel. Having to pay extra for a mimosa or champagne at breakfast also didn’t feel in line with that level of service. There was a coffee machine in the room, but only two capsules for two people, one regular and one decaf. It’s a small thing, though these little details could improve the guest experience.

This is a lovely, very clean hotel with several pools, right by the beach, and plenty of other good services. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. It’s close to the airport, though a bit far from the city center. The location is quiet and suits anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing stay. Highly recommended.

The beach was beautiful and quiet, and the resort was well maintained. Service was friendly and helpful, from reception to room dining, though room dining could be quicker. Our modern, stylish villa had a very comfortable bed. Still, there were some real drawbacks during our stay at Meliá Phuket. The pool villa pool was only 90 cm deep, which fell short of what I expect from a high-quality pool villa. Breakfast was just okay, and could disappoint anyone looking for high quality. Mosquitoes were everywhere despite the sprays and coils, and we were bitten a lot. We also came across cockroaches. Keeping every door shut helped keep them out of the bedroom, but they were around outside and in the bathroom. The bathroom door leading outdoors wasn’t properly sealed, so mosquitoes got in there too. Pool pavilion prices were extremely high by Thai standards, at 2000 Baht plus a 3000 Baht minimum spend. It’s a beautiful resort with good service and a peaceful setting, but the shallow pool, insects, and value for money were clear problems.

This was our second visit, and this time we stayed at Melia for the whole Phuket trip so we could enjoy everything the hotel offers. It really does feel like a home away from home. We spent much of our time by the pool and at the restaurant. The women working there were all so warm and friendly, and Nim was especially professional and caring. She made the place feel even more like home. We also celebrated a birthday during our stay, and the team thoughtfully made us a small cake. Breakfast each morning had a good range of local food and other choices, plus an à la carte menu. The restaurant is open all day, with warm service and tasty food whenever we went. Staff across the hotel worked hard to maintain high standards, and housekeeping was especially kind, attentive, and careful with details. Everyone’s dedication showed throughout. We had a wonderful, memorable holiday.
