Siamgrand Hotel

For around 600 Baht, this is an okay option if you know what you're getting. The bed was firm but fine, the room was clean, and the TV had a few English channels. I booked a superior room, one step above basic. There's a kettle and cups but only tea, and just one spare outlet for charging a phone. Bring toilet paper, since there wasn't any in the room. Breakfast was toast with jelly, instant coffee, and Joke, Thai rice soup. The place could use maintenance: wall repairs are rough and some lights aren't in their fixtures. If the River or the Fortune are full, this is an acceptable fallback, which is why I stayed.

At 900 baht, the suite was big and fairly clean. The hotel looks modern, though there are signs of wear. It's a long way from the city center, so you'll need your own transport, and there's no lift. The Wi-Fi was good enough for me to watch Dutch football through my home VPN. Breakfast is included, but it was awful: toast and jam with cow tom, or rice soup. The air-con was incredibly loud, like trying to sleep under a 747.

The reception staff were very nice, and the room was acceptable. The hotel itself is okay, but the employee at the breakfast station was quite impolite and had no service mindset. He acted as if customers were beggars. I hope he improves.

The rooms are decent, though the hotel is a bit out of town. I'd stay here again.
