The ground floor by reception may put you off, but the rooms themselves are good for the price. They’re spacious, with big beds and bathrooms, and the furniture is proper. I appreciated having actual bedside lamps, which are rare in this class of hotel in Thailand. There’s no lift to the cheaper third and fourth floors, though those rooms are farther from street noise and have some views. The air conditioning units outside can be extremely noisy. If you’re unlucky, your balcony has your unit and a neighbour’s right beside your head, and theirs can keep rattling all night even when yours is off. The floor and bathroom tiles also have lots of small manufacturing defects if you look closely, but it doesn’t really change anything.

The rooms are roomy and inexpensive, but they’re old and need repairs or renovation. The soi is noisy, with roosters screeching all day, so it’s not somewhere to expect peace and quiet.

Our first-floor room was quite large and simple, and it was clean. The air conditioning worked well, though the shower took a while to get hot water. There’s no elevator, so rooms upstairs cost less.

A comfortable, spacious room for the lowest price I could find, and it was easy to locate near the town centre. There were no windows, and the shower didn’t have hot water, but in the warm weather that wasn’t a big deal. The staff were friendly.
