Amanta Hotel Nongkhai

We paid 1400 baht a night, and I thought it was great value. The room was a good size and came with two breakfasts, which I found pretty good. The foyer felt very tranquil. Food and drinks at the rooftop bar were well priced, and the view across the mekong was great.

The stay was good, and the location worked well, though there's no pool. Breakfast at the restaurant was good, but the menu was very Asian. The skybar restaurant could communicate its policies better, especially the minimum spend required to pay by credit card. There's no QR code payment, and the wait staff's English was limited. The wifi was cumbersome too, with a new passcode and login needed each day.

We had a great time, especially at breakfast. The buffet was the best, everything was delicious, and the fresh mangoes were wonderful. It's a short walk to Main Street for street food and more. The rooms were clean and nice, and the AC was awesome, although we could still hear some outside noise that could be improved. I wish the hotel were right on the river, but we could still see the Mekong.

I thought the photos showed a riverside hotel, but it isn't on the river. The rooms are sparse, with hardly any amenities or supplies, and the AC is set to switch off automatically after three hours. I paid for the room, so I shouldn't have to conserve the air conditioning. At checkout, I handed the woman my key and waited for the bill and confirmation. She kept chatting on the phone and wouldn't look at me, leaving me standing there for 10 minutes. Another employee finally came over, and when I asked what was wrong, I learned I was all set. It felt like she had deliberately ignored me. I tried to stay again later and messaged the hotel to request rooms. After 10 days without a reply, I asked what was going on. They said the room I wanted was no longer available, with no apology or attempt to sort it out. I don't recommend this place.
