Tanzeno Hotel

The free hotel bikes made it much easier to get around, and breakfast had enough options for a western meal. One item was photo worthy. For the price, this is an excellent hotel, with friendly, helpful staff. The day manager went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable and spoke excellent English. Skip the bedside charging sockets, I think they feed power back into the grid :)

The hotel is generally good, and the location is ideal if you need to be near the Lao border. The rooms may be the largest around here. Still, at 990THB, we expected more. There was no hot water, no tea or coffee, just a kettle and cups, and the Internet was extremely weak. We needed to get online, but staff didn't speak enough English to understand the problem, so we spent the night trying to connect instead of sleeping. Breakfast was very Thai style, and there was barely anything I could eat. Not worth that price.

The included breakfast has a good variety, and the rooms are quiet and clean. Housekeeping did a good job, and the beds were comfortable enough. The bathroom and shower are a good size, and there's ample parking. The weak Wi-fi is a drawback, and the rooms are worn and could use new furniture or at least a good wipe with warm soapy water to get the dirt off the faux leather. Since Nong Khai doesn't really have top quality hotels, this is my go-to for its cleanliness and breakfast.

Helpful staff, large clean rooms and bathrooms, and good warm water pressure give this hotel a lot of potential. The main issue is the internet, limited to 3Mbps max and so slow in the evening that working online isn't possible. The big TV's signal is so weak it doesn't work either. With some attention, this could be a good place to stay while in Nongkhai.
