White Inn Nongkhai Hotel

The owners were especially friendly and helpful, and this was one of the best budget hotels I stayed in during my eight weeks travelling around Thailand. The room had a large comfortable bed, a fridge, a big wardrobe, and a desk, plus a hot rain shower. There are restaurants close by and a few bars, but the noise didn't keep me from sleeping well. Nong Khai markets and the promenade are within walking distance. The rooms are spacious, and a few imperfections give the place its charm.

For 600 baht a night, it's a very basic but clean place to stay after checking out the local bars and restaurants. If you've been drinking, leave the car parked here for the night. There are breathalyzer checks on the main road between Nong Kai and Phen, and they check everyone.

There's self-serve coffee, Ovaltine, and tea in the lobby in the morning, and the hotel has a lift. My twin room was large and clean, with a fridge, tables, and a cabinet. It sits on a street with bars, though asking for a higher-floor room or one facing the back helps with the noise. The main inconvenience was having to go to the lobby water machine for hot water because there's no kettle in the room. For a small district, I'd say it's an acceptable hotel.

The room was spacious and clean, and the AC worked strongly. Local shops and bars are very close by.
