Baanmai Kon Muang

I haven't even left yet, but wanted to write because I've had such a good stay. The area and view are lovely, the little cabin is comfortable, and there are a few adorable, friendly cats around. Staff checked several times whether we wanted the cabin cleaned, though we were often relaxing inside during the day and didn't need it then. I spotted a few ants outside on the porch; they weren't bothering us, so I didn't say anything, but they dealt with them on their own, which really surprised me in a good way. The shower gets nice and warm, the air-conditioning works great, and the beds are firm but I slept without aches. Everyone is very nice, and you sometimes see the kids quietly running around. There are swings, the river is right in front, and the walking street is a short walk away. They also leave fresh water and toilet paper every day, which I appreciated.

From the road, it's easy to miss how nice this place is. Inside, there's a lovely atmosphere, a stream, and beautiful scenery. They serve authentic Northern Thai food, along with good drinks.

I was after somewhere calm and relaxing, near the river but still within about a 15-minute walk of Pai's Walking street. This was just what I wanted, and I'd happily recommend it.

The staff were great, and despite the fairly loud road noise, this is still a nice spot for lunch and a drink. We ate at the open-air restaurant overlooking the river and bridge. While waiting for our food, my daughter and I went down to the rocky beach and threw rocks. There are two outdoor sinks and bathrooms nearby. The food was good. The pork coated in roasted rice was the standout, a little crunchy, with sweet shallots in a chili rub. I haven't had anything quite like it. The crispy pork with kale and the chicken noodles in gravy were only OK.
