Pai Vieng Fah

We stayed in the cottage facing the pool and mountains. It was spacious, with a huge comfortable bed and plenty of room to relax. I loved the design, it felt like a little Tuscany in Thailand. The peaceful grounds, with lots of butterflies, felt magical. The property itself is stunning, with a beautiful, well-kept garden and common areas that create a magnificent atmosphere. Breakfast was lovely and a perfect start to each day. Such a great place for a vacation. The one ongoing nuisance was an unpleasant bathroom smell that we couldn’t really get rid of. Housekeeping did a very good job, though.

I enjoyed my stay and would recommend the place for its quiet location, clean rooms, pool, and nice gym. The cats are cute, too. I’ve read some bad reviews and really can’t see where they’re coming from. The staff are a bit quiet, but definitely not rude. The breakfast is quite basic, but it was fine for us, and you get what you pay for. One small suggestion: new chairs by the pool would improve that area a lot.

We loved the layout, the pleasant pool for cooling down on sunny days, and the five or six cats who seem to run the property. The pillows were wonderful, maybe the best we’ve had in Thai hotels. In winter, though, the pool water never really warms up. The resort is in a quiet area with scenic views, about a 20-minute walk from the bus station and night market, mostly on flat, smooth paths. Beyond that, things need work. The staff seemed rather indifferent to guests, which felt unusual for Thailand. A lot of the equipment and infrastructure is old and run-down, including broken sunbeds with stained, torn mattresses, stained and torn bedding, and power outlets that worked poorly. Even the hot breakfast dishes were always cold. They were served on stoves and food warmers, but staff didn’t keep them heated, probably to save money. There’s quite a bit that could be improved to keep the resort competitive.

The rooms are nice and clean, the beds comfortable, and the views excellent. The gym is excellent as well. Breakfast was okay, but the coffee was bad. The drip pot coffee tasted like dirty water, and even though the hotel has a beautiful fresh coffee machine, guests have to pay cash for that coffee. Very disappointing. It’s an average hotel with good views. I stayed here two years ago, when the hotel was in much better shape. Since then, it seems to need a cleanup and some improvements. The balcony patio needs attention, too.
