I stayed here this year and last. For 350 Bhat ($11 USD) in November, I got my own room, which is great value for a budget traveller wanting a beautiful place with distinctive architecture. Check-in was easy, and I got in earlier than expected. There’s no AC, which makes sense for the price, but at least the mud huts I stayed in stayed cool. There are two kinds of dwellings, mud huts and stilt homes. I’ve only tried the huts. I think the stilt ones are nicer, have a pond view, and are spaced farther apart for privacy. I believe they cost a little more. They’re great for couples and half the price too. Walking takes about 20 minutes to Walking Street Night Market and 15 minutes to the bridge. It’s under five minutes by scooter, though I walked and was fine. Keep food wrappers, open drinks, and anything with food residue right outside the front door instead of indoors, so you don’t attract bugs. The property is lovely and right on the edge of nature, with eco buildings, large rooms and bathrooms, and artsy painted bathrooms. There’s a sweet English-speaking owner or manager. Nearby are a few artsy shops and plenty of good food, especially breakfast places, including vegan options. A Smoothing River across the way can be heard, along with cute animal noises, especially in the mornings. The street and property are quiet. The blankets and sheets are nice, the shower has hot water, and the Wi-Fi is good. Smoking is allowed, both kinds. A few downsides: it’s a 20-minute walk to Walking Street, though easy with a scooter or bike. There’s no AC, which didn’t bother me much. The bathroom could be cleaner. It’s not very social, without a large communal area like hostels have, and there’s a communal refrigerator instead of a mini fridge.

The mud hut was a cool, relaxed place to stay, and ours even had a hammock just outside. The host was incredibly kind, gave us great recommendations around Pai, and was always available. If you’re after a more relaxed, authentic jungle experience, this could be for you. Walking street in Pai is about 20 minutes away. Thanks again! 🙌

The lemon house is gorgeous, and the natural airflow kept it at a really comfortable temperature. The private terrace was cozy, too. Our host was kind and helpful, and the service was perfect. Would definitely recommend!

The curtains smelled odd and had mold on them too. Replacing them now and then would be a good idea. I hate leaving a review this negative, but I take health seriously. I’m fine with the place attracting hippies and people who smoke weed, but the pillows were disgusting, moldy, and smelled awful. Sleeping with your face against one and breathing it in all night could be harmful. There’s no excuse for it, since the cleaner changes the sheets after every guest and would see the pillows each time.

The water was the one thing I couldn't get past. It smelled like sewage, so I had to use bottled water to wash my face and hair to get rid of the smell. It's a cute little cottage with basic amenities, set somewhere quiet and surrounded by nature. The owner was friendly. I even liked the bathroom with its partly open roof and the friendly snails that came by.
