Kalanan Riverside Resort

The last meal of my trip, at the restaurant by the river, was so good that I kept thinking about the food afterward. Thanks for everything. This was my first stay, and the hotel turned out much better than it looks online. I had a great experience and would definitely return. For me, it deserves 4.5+ stars. The beds and room were comfortable, but the showers were only lukewarm. Breakfast was mostly Thai food, and getting eggs meant a 15-minute wait. The toast machine was broken, and both the orange juice and coffee had run out. Not a great breakfast experience.

The river restaurant was too noisy for us in the evenings because of the orchestra, but we loved the fresh breakfast buffet and its range of choices. The pool on the second floor was nice for a cool saltwater swim. The pool area itself wasn't very appealing with all the air conditioners making noise, and the sunbeds needed cleaning. Our forest-view room was fine. I imagine the Riverview rooms have the best views, though river traffic may make them noisier. The beds were much too hard, and a place like this should invest in more comfortable ones. The gardens and grounds are lovely, and the resort has a pleasant old-world feel. Staff throughout were welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed talking with General manager Kate. I only remember Nutty's name among the reception staff, but they were all fantastic. Mei from housekeeping was a real jewel, as were the other women and the young man from Myanmar. Manager Purina was very friendly too. The birthday surprises were touching and unforgettable. There were many events, groups, and weddings, but none disturbed us. The sunset is beautiful. Thanks to everyone, and we hope to visit again. Warm regards from Ignatius and Stefan from Belgium.

A quiet location with a lovely river view and pleasant facilities. The staff are very friendly and do their best to communicate and help with requests, even though not many speak English. I'd recommend it for couples or families.
