Kalim Beach Place

The pool and garden were lovely, but the beach wasn't usable for us because it was dirty, wavy, and pebbly. The house is a little old but functional. Cars passing all night made the ground-floor rooms noisy. Service was pleasant enough, though not very attentive to small things. We often had to ask for morning coffee or water, and expected house service to mean we could relax without keeping track of those details. The house could also have been cleaned more often between visits.

The staff were warm and helpful, and they cooked some fantastic Thai food for us. We stayed four days for pre-wedding celebrations and had a great time. Recent reviews had made me worry about cleanliness, but the place was spotless. The beach is right at your feet, you can’t get much closer without stepping into the water. I’d recommend it without hesitation.

We spent three nights there. The drainage backed up and flooded the bathroom floors and entrance, and water leaked from the second floor into the living area downstairs. Rooms 5 and 6 are right by the road, so the traffic noise made it hard to sleep. No offense, but I won't stay there again.

The property felt badly neglected. There had been flooding and landslides in Phuket before we arrived, but the pool was still disgusting and unusable, water was available only about half the time, and the roof leaked onto the bedding. The staff didn't seem surprised by any of it. Getting a discount from the owners took far too much negotiating. It's a shame the place hasn't been maintained properly.
