De coze' Hotel

The location was really convenient, close to everything, and the interior felt cozy and nice. Cleaning was quite good, and the other staff were polite. But my first impression was rough. One of the two receptionists, an older woman, seemed very unwelcoming. She looked at me as if I were a thief or trying to beg my way in, and kept giving me suspicious side glances. I felt extremely uncomfortable. I’d just come off a long flight and was exhausted, so I didn’t have the energy to find another place and stayed anyway. Aside from that, it was a good stay.

The room felt dated and poorly maintained. There was dampness on the ceiling, the bedside light was broken, the locker didn’t work and had to be replaced when I asked, and the mattress was uncomfortable. One day, even the complimentary water bottles were missing until we requested them. Housekeeping and basic cleaning were regular, which is expected at a hotel. We stayed at De Coze Hotel in Phuket for four nights and paid around ₹5,000 per night, over ₹20,000 altogether. For that price, the value was nowhere near justified. The online photos looked very different from reality, and the room categories seemed misleading. We booked a balcony room with a pool view, but the balcony was practically unusable because an outdoor AC unit sat there, putting out heat and loud noise. The pool was tiny and couldn’t really be seen unless you leaned over and looked down. It wasn’t something you could enjoy from a seat, so paying extra for that view wasn’t worth it. The AC compressor kept switching on and off all night with a loud, irritating noise that made sleeping extremely uncomfortable. We complained, and a technician came, but nothing improved. They offered us another room, but it was even worse, so we had to stay in the original one. Overall, an overpriced, outdated place in poor condition. I’d strongly suggest comparing other Phuket hotels, since it seems easy to find much better options for the same money. I also have photos and videos of the AC noise, ceiling, and the actual balcony and pool.

The service was just as disappointing as the room. Employees came across as impolite and unprofessional, and seemed uninterested in helping. Concerns were ignored or handled badly. They also demanded a 1000 THB deposit at check-in, which felt absurd given the condition of De Coze Hotel. The online photos are deceptive, and basic facilities didn’t work properly. There was no hot water in the shower, the TV was erratic, and the air conditioner barely worked. For what I paid, not even getting those essentials was frustrating. One of my worst hotel stays. Stay somewhere else and spare yourself the aggravation.

We slept really well, and the rooms were as advertised. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Jungceylon, in a good spot that’s away from the noise but still close enough to Patong’s entertainment. We were happy with everything, and the service was excellent. Agoda messed up our booking, but the staff handled the issue professionally and turned that big annoyance on Agoda’s part into a pleasant experience. A big thank you to the front desk. When our fridge stopped working late at night, Anil and the other staff found somewhere to keep our food so it wouldn’t spoil. We had several nice conversations with them. We’ll come back next time we’re in Patong.
