The beach is about 700 m away, roughly a 7-minute walk, and Bangla Road takes 12-15 minutes on foot. There’s also a 7/11 and plenty of super-cheap options nearby. We were six people and booked two rooms, one of which slept five. We wanted to stay together, so this worked perfectly. The manager was reachable on WhatsApp whenever she wasn’t on reception duty. We had a very nice stay.
The staff were friendly and helpful, which made the management’s behavior all the more disappointing. For several days, the boss’s scooter was parked right in front of the main entrance, even though there was room on either side. It made getting in and out awkward. When I politely asked the owner/driver to move it, he responded with an arrogant smile and refused. Trash bags and bins were also left right by the door, adding to an unwelcoming, unprofessional feel. It’s a shame for the hardworking staff. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if basic courtesy and a clear entrance matter to you.
I want to thank the receptionist who tried to help us. The rest of the service was the worst I’ve experienced in a hotel, and I wouldn’t recommend this place for a long stay. We booked 28 days, but the room was dusty, the glasses were dirty, and it faced a noisy road with traffic through the night. We had no tea or coffee or hair dryer, and the balcony clothesline was broken. Heavy smoking by the neighbors sent the smell into our room, so we asked the receptionist to move us. The Burmese housekeeper was rude and hard to understand, and didn’t replace basics like shampoo or shower gel. We got only two bottles of drinking water per two days, and no more supplies for the rest of our 28-day stay, despite paying for the room daily. When housekeeping didn’t come, we had to ask reception for water and other items. We were often out, so couldn’t always ask. Guests shouldn’t have to chase basic supplies. Once, we put up the “Please Clean Room” sign, but the housekeeper turned it to “Do Not Disturb.” We were away, and the room went uncleaned for three days. The trash piled up and it started to smell. The housekeeping staff showed little commitment to service. It wasn’t worth the money, and we weren’t properly looked after.
The front desk team were the best part for me. They greeted me with smiles and were ready to help at any hour, with service that felt like a high-end hotel. When I asked to move rooms because of the cigarette smell coming through the bathroom vent, they kindly found us a better one. There was still a faint smell, but it was much less. I’d booked a non-smoking room, and the smoke irritated my girlfriend’s lungs; she then had bronchitis for several weeks. The room itself looked new despite the budget price, and the furniture was in good shape. I slept comfortably, and the air-conditioning worked well. There was loud tuk-tuk music around 3 AM now and then, but that wasn’t the hotel’s fault. Housekeeping was the main reason I couldn’t give a perfect score. Cleaning times were unpredictable, and one day they took the door sign. When I asked, a housekeeper snapped at me and insisted I must have taken it, which I’m sure I hadn’t. Another time I had put the “Do Not Disturb” sign outside, but someone came in to clean anyway. I’d just finished getting dressed, so that could have been a nightmare. The cleaning also felt careless. I never saw the floor mopped, and it stayed sticky and unpleasant. The hotel should train the housekeeping team better, since their conduct reflects on the whole place.
The room was a good size, with nice ventilation and a pleasant smell. Towels and linen were clean, and the nearby cafes and shops made up for the location being outside the center. The beach is 15 minutes away. My only gripe was having to remind them about cleaning. There’s a refundable deposit.
